United States Embassy in Doha

Embassy of USA in Doha, Qatar

Overview

Qatari nationals and other residents of Qatar applying for a U.S. visa — tourist/business (B-1/B-2), student (F-1), exchange (J-1), immigrant, or other category — apply at the U.S. Embassy in Doha. Qatar is not on the Visa Waiver Program, so Qatari nationals require a visa to enter the United States. The embassy also provides consular services to the large American citizen community in Qatar, which includes business professionals and academics. The embassy is located in the Al Luqta District, Doha.

Visa Services

The embassy processes all nonimmigrant and immigrant visa categories for residents of Qatar. Common categories include B-1/B-2 tourist/business, F-1 student, J-1 exchange, and immigrant visas for family reunification. Appointments must be booked online via the USTravelDocs portal. Due to high demand from Qatar's large international resident population, applicants should book well in advance.

Consular Services

The American Citizen Services (ACS) unit provides passport renewals, Consular Reports of Birth Abroad, notarial services, and emergency assistance to U.S. citizens in Qatar. The unit serves a significant American business and academic community.

Trade & Export Support

The U.S. Commercial Service promotes U.S. exports to Qatar's wealthy market in sectors such as healthcare, education technology, aerospace, and infrastructure. It supports U.S. companies bidding on major government and private sector projects in one of the world's highest-income markets.

Investment Opportunities

Qatar's National Vision 2030 is driving investment across infrastructure, healthcare, education, technology, and sustainable energy. The embassy supports U.S. firms investing in these sectors and encourages Qatari investment into the United States through the SelectUSA programme.

Business Support

The embassy's Economic Section supports U.S. companies operating in Qatar, advising on market conditions, investment climate, and business regulations. Qatar's National Vision 2030 diversification programme is creating significant opportunities across multiple sectors for international businesses.

Cultural & Educational Programs

The Public Affairs section fosters educational and cultural exchange, including partnerships with Education City — a campus complex hosting branch campuses of several leading U.S. universities including Carnegie Mellon, Georgetown, Texas A&M, and others. Exchange programmes connect Qatari students and scholars with U.S. institutions.

Appointment Information

Appointments for all visa interviews and ACS services must be booked online via the USTravelDocs portal at ustraveldocs.com. Walk-in services are not available. The embassy is located at 22nd February Street, Al Luqta District, Doha.

Special Notes

The embassy serves both Qatari nationals and the large international population of residents in Qatar. U.S. citizens in Qatar should register with the embassy's STEP programme. Review the current U.S. State Department travel advisory before travelling.
