Overview
The Embassy of the Federal Republic of Nigeria in Washington is the senior post in Nigeria's diplomatic network in the Americas and the anchor of one of Africa's most consequential bilateral relationships. Located on International Court in the Embassy Row district, the Embassy manages Nigeria-US relations across foreign policy, trade and investment, security and counterterrorism cooperation, the substantial Nigerian-American community (one of the largest African-origin communities in the United States), and the consular workload that comes with it. Nigeria also maintains Consulates-General in New York and Atlanta.

Consular Services
The Embassy provides passport, citizenship, notarial and emergency consular services to Nigerian citizens. Routine services run by appointment. The Embassy also handles document legalisation, civil-status matters, and serves as the central point for Nigerian-Americans seeking consular support across the wider US East Coast and Mid-Atlantic.
Trade & Export Support
The Embassy's commercial section supports Nigeria-US trade and investment promotion. Nigeria is one of the United States' largest African trading partners, with bilateral commerce centred on energy, agriculture, manufactured goods, and services. The Embassy works alongside Nigerian agencies promoting non-oil exports and inward investment.
Cultural & Educational Programs
The Embassy supports Nigeria-US cultural and educational ties — including the substantial flow of Nigerian students to US universities, cultural programming through the Nigerian diaspora community, and the long-standing Fulbright and Mandela Washington Fellowship engagement.
