Overview
Canada's High Commission in Maputo — officially a High Commission under Commonwealth protocol, both Canada and Mozambique being Commonwealth members — coordinates bilateral diplomatic, development cooperation, and trade relations. Canada is an active development partner supporting governance, health, education, and natural resource management in Mozambique. The High Commission provides consular services for Canadian citizens travelling in or residing in Mozambique, including emergency assistance across this Portuguese-speaking Southern African nation. Canadian travellers visit Mozambique for Indian Ocean diving, beach holidays on the Bazaruto and Quirimbas archipelagos, wildlife at Gorongosa National Park, and the UNESCO-listed Ilha de Moçambique.
