Overview

The Embassy of the People's Republic of China in Buenos Aires manages one of China's most significant bilateral relationships in South America. China is Argentina's second-largest trading partner and a major source of investment — bilateral ties centre on agricultural exports (soy, beef, wine), lithium extraction in the northwestern provinces, energy infrastructure, and railway and port development. Argentina's lithium reserves in the 'Lithium Triangle' (shared with Bolivia and Chile) are a growing focus of Chinese investment. The embassy handles diplomatic relations, consular services and cultural exchange.
