Yes — Thai passport holders need a Schengen visa for Portugal and the wider Schengen area, or a national visa for long stays such as work, study, or family reunification. Applications from Thailand run through the Portuguese embassy's consular section in Bangkok; write to sconsular.bangkok@mne.pt to confirm current routing and requirements before preparing documents.
Office hours are Monday to Friday, 08:30 to 12:30 and 13:30 to 16:30 — but public consular attendance runs mornings only, 08:30 to 12:30. The embassy closes on Portuguese and Thai public holidays, so check ahead around holiday periods.
At 26 Captain Bush Lane, off New Road in Bangrak — a riverside compound by the Chao Phraya in Bangkok's old European trading quarter, a short walk from the Si Phraya pier. It is Portugal's only post in Thailand.
