Introduction
Zlatibor holds Serbia's famous narrow-gauge railway and Kusturica's film-set village, both already well known — but the district's own resort town, its living wool-craft tradition and its actual ski mountain are a genuinely different, quieter story.
Discover Zlatibor
The Staro Selo (Old Village) museum at Sirogojno gathers relocated nineteenth-century timber farmhouses, barns and a working watermill, arranged to show how a genuine Zlatibor mountain community actually lived and worked before modern development changed the district's towns beyond recognition. Sirogojno is equally known for its wool: local women's knitting cooperatives have produced distinctive geometric black-and-white patterned sweaters since the mid-twentieth century, a living craft tradition still made and sold today rather than a display piece behind glass, and one of Serbia's most recognisable regional textile crafts.
Ways to Experience This Destination
Relocated nineteenth-century farmhouses and a living wool-knitting tradition — geometric sweaters still made by local cooperatives today.
Zlatiborski kajmak and pršut, both specific products of the district's altitude and air, plus a spa-town history dating to the 1800s.
The district's actual ski mountain, reached by year-round cable car — a different peak and view from Tara's Banjska Stena.
