Overview
Kandy is Sri Lanka's key inland cultural city and a strategic bridge between lowland itineraries and hill-country rail and road routes.
Travel Guide
Kandy is best approached as a compact cultural center plus a transport node for central highland routes. Most travelers can cover the urban heritage core in one dense day and use a second day for botanical, tea-country, or rail-linked extensions. Distances in town are manageable, but road movement around peak hours can slow noticeably. A practical structure is: day 1 temple-lake-city core, day 2 Peradeniya or onward hill-country transition.
