Overview

The Honorary Consulate General of Switzerland in Reykjavik provides local consular assistance for Swiss citizens in Iceland. The Honorary Consul General is Ms. Jóhanna Vigdís Hjaltadóttir, in post since 1996. Switzerland does not maintain a resident embassy in Iceland — the Swiss Embassy in Oslo (Norway) is accredited to Iceland and handles full diplomatic and consular matters. Switzerland and Iceland are fellow EFTA members and Schengen partners, sharing a framework of economic and travel agreements outside the EU.
