Baisha and South Bay are Kenting's best-known beaches, with white sand and clear water that draw both swimmers and a genuine watersports scene — jet skiing, banana boats and beach clubs cluster along the busier stretches, while smaller coves reachable by scooter offer a quieter alternative for anyone wanting to skip the crowds. Kenting Street, the main town, transforms nightly into a pedestrian night market distinct in character from Taiwan's more traditional markets elsewhere — beachwear shops, bars and food stalls catering specifically to a holiday crowd rather than local daily life.

Eluanbi Lighthouse marks Taiwan's actual southernmost point, its grounds offering coastal trails and open ocean views across the Bashi Channel toward the Philippines. Longpan Park, along the park's eastern edge, pairs grassland plateaus with sheer cliffs dropping to crashing waves below — a genuinely different landscape register from Kenting's beach-town core, worth the detour for the contrast alone.

Kenting's protected coral reef zones offer snorkelling and diving with genuinely good visibility by Taiwan standards, concentrated around specific marked conservation areas rather than the full coastline. Inland from the beach strip, the park's forest and grassland areas hold gentler hiking trails that see a fraction of the beach crowd, a useful option for visitors who've had enough sun for a day but want to stay within the park.

Kenting is reached from Kaohsiung by bus, roughly two to two-and-a-half hours, since neither THSR nor TRA extends this far south — Kaohsiung's THSR station is the practical connection point from Taipei or elsewhere on the west coast. Once in Kenting, a scooter is genuinely the most practical way to reach the smaller coves, the lighthouse and Longpan Park, since the park's attractions spread out beyond easy walking distance from the main strip.
