The U.S. Embassy in Manila is one of the busiest U.S. consular posts in the world for visa processing. Filipino nationals applying for a U.S. visa — immigrant (family reunification, employment) or nonimmigrant (tourist/business B-1/B-2, student F-1, exchange J-1, nurse/healthcare H-1C, and others) — apply here. The Philippines is not on the Visa Waiver Program, so all Filipino nationals need a visa to enter the United States. The Embassy also has a Consulate General in Cebu. The Philippines has one of the largest diasporas in the United States — an estimated 4 million Filipino Americans — making family-based immigrant visa processing a very high-volume function. The embassy is located on Roxas Boulevard, Manila Bay.
Visa Services
The Manila embassy is among the world's highest-volume visa posts. It processes all nonimmigrant categories — B-1/B-2 tourist/business, F-1 student, J-1 exchange, H-1B/H-1C work and healthcare, K fiancé — and all immigrant visa categories including immediate relative and family preference petitions. Due to enormous demand, nonimmigrant and immigrant visa appointment wait times can extend many months. Applicants must book online via the USTravelDocs portal and plan well in advance. The Consulate General in Cebu provides additional capacity for applicants from the Visayas and Mindanao regions.
Consular Services
The ACS unit serves one of the largest American citizen communities overseas — including many Filipino-Americans, dual nationals, and retirees. Services include passport renewals, Consular Reports of Birth Abroad, notarial services, and emergency assistance. The unit is one of the busiest ACS operations worldwide.
Trade & Export Support
The U.S. Commercial Service promotes U.S. exports to the Philippines in sectors including infrastructure, information technology, renewable energy, and consumer goods. The Philippines is a significant market for U.S. businesses, with the country's growing middle class driving demand for U.S. products and services.
Investment Opportunities
The Philippines offers investment opportunities in technology, renewable energy, infrastructure, real estate, and consumer sectors. Through SelectUSA, the embassy also promotes Philippine investment into the United States. The country's young, English-speaking population and strategic Southeast Asian location make it an appealing market for international businesses.

The embassy's Economic Section supports U.S. companies operating in or entering the Philippine market, advising on investment conditions, intellectual property protection, and market access. Appointment Information
All visa interview and ACS appointments must be booked online via the USTravelDocs portal at ustraveldocs.com. Walk-in services are not available. Given extremely high demand, applicants should book as far in advance as possible. The embassy is at 1201 Roxas Boulevard, Manila; the Consulate General is at Cardinal Rosales Avenue, Cebu.
Special Notes
The embassy compound on Manila Bay is one of the largest U.S. diplomatic facilities in the world. Security screening is strict; electronic devices and large bags are prohibited inside. U.S. citizens travelling to the Philippines should review the current U.S. State Department travel advisory before visiting.
