Saudi Arabian Embassy in Abuja

Overview

The Royal Embassy of Saudi Arabia in Abuja is the Kingdom's diplomatic mission in Nigeria, working alongside a Consulate General in Kano. Beyond the routine work of any embassy, it handles one of the busiest religious-travel relationships in the network: Nigeria sends one of the largest annual Hajj pilgrim contingents in the world, in addition to a steady flow of Umrah travellers, and the embassy's visa and consular sections are built around that reality as much as tourism or business travel.

Visa Services

Nigerian residents travelling to Saudi Arabia for business, family visits, or Umrah can apply through the Saudi eVisa platform or, where a straightforward online route doesn't apply, through the embassy's consular section; the same online route (plus a visa on arrival) is open to holders of a valid Schengen, UK, or US visa and to permanent residents of the US, EU, or UK. Umrah can be performed year-round with a permit applied for online. Hajj is a separate, much larger undertaking — it needs its own Hajj permit, runs only in the fixed Hajj season, and in Nigeria is coordinated through the National Hajj Commission (NAHCON) and its state pilgrims' boards rather than the tourism e-visa system.

Consular Services

The embassy provides passport and travel document services, civil registration (birth, marriage, death), power-of-attorney and document attestation, and emergency assistance for Saudi nationals in Nigeria.

Trade & Export Support

Nigeria and Saudi Arabia are both major OPEC oil producers and coordinate closely within the organisation's production framework, alongside a growing non-oil trade relationship in agriculture and investment as both countries pursue economic diversification. The embassy's economic section supports bilateral trade promotion and business matchmaking between Nigerian and Saudi companies.

Appointment Information

Consular appointments are booked through the embassy's official channels; visa applications for most nationalities are handled via the Saudi eVisa portal rather than in-person embassy visits. Applicants should confirm current procedures on the embassy's official website before travel.

Special Notes

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's National Day is September 23. Residents of Kano and the surrounding region are served by the Consulate General in Kano rather than the embassy.
