Azerbaijan offers an e-visa to citizens of over 90 countries, including Italy, all EU member states, the UK, the US, Canada, Australia, India, and many others. Applications are made online through the official ASAN Visa portal at evisa.gov.az, requiring a valid passport, passport photo, travel dates, accommodation details, and fee payment. E-visas are processed within 3 working days and allow stays of up to 30 days within a 90-day validity, on a single or multiple-entry basis. The visa on arrival is no longer available — the e-visa must be obtained in advance. Traditional embassy applications remain available for nationalities not covered by the e-visa or for long-stay categories (work, study, residence). Stays longer than 15 days require registration with the State Migration Service within 15 days of arrival; hotels handle this automatically for their guests.

Azerbaijan and Italy maintain a substantial energy relationship — Azerbaijani natural gas reaches Italy through the Trans Adriatic Pipeline (TAP), landing on the Apulian coast as part of the Southern Gas Corridor, one of Europe's key alternative gas routes. The embassy's economic section supports bilateral trade promotion and business matchmaking between Azerbaijani and Italian companies.
