Since August 1, 2026, thirty-six US dollars paid by card buys the visa on arrival at Cairo International Airport in digital form: $30 for the visa and a $6 service fee. Instead of a paper sticker, travelers get a QR code that border officers scan with the passport.
Who qualifies is unchanged. US, UK, Irish, Canadian and Australian passport holders generate the code on the official visa-on-arrival portal, in the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities app or at arrival-hall kiosks, before departure, in flight or after landing. Each code is valid for seven days. Nationalities that need an e-Visa or an embassy visa are not covered.
The paper visa, $30 in cash, is still sold. The ministry plans to extend the system to the other airports of Egypt and has given no dates.
