US, UK, Australian, Canadian, Irish and New Zealand passport holders arriving in Thailand on or after September 15, 2026 are admitted visa-free for 30 days, half the 60 days allowed since July 2024. The Interior Ministry announcements behind the change appeared in the Royal Gazette on August 31, replacing the old 93-country list with one of 60 countries and territories.
Indian travellers also drop to 30 days but keep visa-free entry. A May cabinet plan would have moved them to visa on arrival; the government reversed it in July, and India now sits on the standing 30-day list. Nigerian nationals still need a visa, as before.
A 30-day stay can be extended by up to 30 more days at a Thai immigration office, at the officer’s discretion.
