Bulgarian Embassy in Rome

Embassy of Bulgaria in Rome, Italy

Overview

The Embassy of Bulgaria in Rome is Bulgaria's diplomatic mission to Italy, processing visa applications for Italian residents, providing consular services to Bulgarian nationals, and supporting the substantial manufacturing-investment relationship between the two countries.

Visa Services

As an EU member state, Bulgaria grants visa-free entry to EU/EEA and Swiss citizens, who can enter with a valid ID card or passport for unlimited stays. Citizens of the US, UK, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, and many other countries can enter visa-free for tourism or business for up to 90 days within any 180-day period. Bulgaria has been part of the Schengen area for air and sea borders since March 2024 and for land borders since January 2025, making it now a full member — a standard Schengen visa allows entry into Bulgaria without further formalities.

Consular Services

The embassy provides passport and travel document services, civil registration, document attestation and legalization, and emergency consular assistance for Bulgarian nationals in Italy.

Trade & Export Support

Italy is one of Bulgaria's leading foreign investors and trading partners — decades of Italian manufacturing relocation, particularly in textiles and footwear, have built deep supply-chain links between the two economies. The embassy's economic section supports bilateral trade promotion and business matchmaking between Bulgarian and Italian companies.
