Visa Services
Burundi offers an e-visa for eligible nationalities through online application on the official immigration portal, and a visa on arrival at Bujumbura's Melchior Ndadaye Airport and designated land border crossings. Citizens of the East African Community (Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Rwanda, South Sudan, DR Congo, Somalia) enter visa-free for up to 6 months under the regional free-movement protocol. Standard requirements are a passport valid at least 6 months beyond travel dates with blank pages, a completed application form, passport photo, travel itinerary, proof of accommodation, return ticket, and a yellow fever vaccination certificate (mandatory and checked at every border, no exceptions). E-visa processing typically takes 3-5 working days. Travellers not eligible for the e-visa or visa on arrival can still apply traditionally through this embassy. Some northern and eastern regions are currently subject to specific travel advisories.

The embassy provides passport and travel document services, civil registration, document attestation and legalization, and emergency consular assistance for Burundian nationals in Italy.
