Overview
The Embassy of Costa Rica in Rome is Costa Rica's diplomatic mission to Italy, processing visa applications for Italian residents and providing consular services to Costa Rican nationals in Italy.
Visa Services
Costa Rica allows visa-free entry to citizens of the US, UK, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, all EU countries (including Italy), and many others for tourist or business stays of up to 90 days. Holders of a valid Schengen visa or US visa (any type) can also enter visa-free, even if their nationality would normally require one. The passport must be valid at least one day beyond the entry date (6 months recommended), a return ticket is required, and proof of sufficient funds (US$100 per month of stay). Extensions are possible through migration offices.
Consular Services
The embassy provides passport and travel document services, civil registration, document attestation and legalization, and emergency consular assistance for Costa Rican nationals in Italy.
Trade & Export Support
The embassy's economic section supports bilateral trade promotion and business matchmaking between Costa Rican and Italian companies.
