The Embassy of Cuba in Rome is Cuba's diplomatic mission to Italy, processing visa applications for Italian residents and providing consular services to Cuban nationals in Italy.
Visa Services
Cuba requires most visitors to obtain a Tarjeta del Turista (tourist card) rather than a traditional visa. The card is purchased before departure through the airline, a travel agency, or the Cuban consulate, costing US$25-50 depending on nationality and point of sale. It allows stays of up to 30 days, extendable once for a further 30 days at immigration offices in Cuba. Italian citizens use the standard green card. US citizens need a special pink card and must travel under one of 12 categories authorised by the US government. All travellers must present a valid passport, health insurance specifically covering Cuba, proof of sufficient funds, and a return or onward ticket. US credit cards do not work in Cuba due to the embargo.
Consular Services
The embassy provides passport and travel document services, civil registration, document attestation and legalization, and emergency consular assistance for Cuban nationals in Italy.
