Overview
The Embassy of Cyprus in Rome is Cyprus's diplomatic mission to Italy, processing visa applications for Italian residents and providing consular services to Cypriot nationals in Italy.
Visa Services
Cyprus is an EU member but not yet part of the Schengen area, maintaining its own border controls. EU/EEA/Swiss citizens can enter with a valid ID card or passport with no limit on length of stay. Citizens of the US, UK, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, and many others can enter visa-free for tourist or business stays of up to 90 days within any 180-day period. Importantly, this 90-day limit is calculated independently of Schengen — days in Cyprus do not count against Schengen limits and vice versa. Northern Cyprus (the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus) has separate entry procedures.
Consular Services
The embassy provides passport and travel document services, civil registration, document attestation and legalization, and emergency consular assistance for Cypriot nationals in Italy.
Trade & Export Support
Italy and Cyprus maintain trade ties spanning maritime shipping — Cyprus is a major international shipping registry — alongside tourism and financial services. The embassy's economic section supports bilateral trade promotion and business matchmaking between Cypriot and Italian companies.
Service Area
Italy.
Appointment Information
Consular appointments are booked through the embassy's official channels.
Special Notes
Cyprus's National Day is October 1.
