Embassy of the Democratic Republic of the Congo in Rome

Embassy of Democratic Republic of the Congo in Rome, Italy

Overview

The Embassy of the Democratic Republic of the Congo in Rome is the DRC's diplomatic mission to Italy, processing visa applications for Italian residents and providing consular services to Congolese nationals in Italy.

Visa Services

The DRC requires advance authorisation for almost all foreign travellers — there is no visa on arrival at any entry point. Two routes are available: the official e-visa platform at evisa.gouv.cd (administered by the Direction Générale de Migration, DGM) for short stays of up to 7 days through the VAP system (Visa AéroPortuaire / Airport Visa), valid at major international airports including Kinshasa N'djili and Goma; or traditional applications at this embassy for tourist, business, work, residence, or study visas. Embassy applications require a passport valid at least six months beyond entry, application form, photo, mandatory yellow fever vaccination certificate (vaccinated at least 10 days before arrival), an officially certified letter of invitation (stamped by the host or the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Kinshasa, which can speed up applications referred there for a decision), accommodation confirmation, return ticket, and proof of funds. Embassy processing typically takes two to three weeks. International flights carry an exit tax of approximately US$55 (US$50 airport tax + US$5 boarding fee); domestic flights approximately US$10. Yellow fever vaccination, registration with the local DGM office for residents, and a ban on exporting Congolese francs (CDF) are strictly enforced.

Consular Services

The embassy provides passport and travel document services, civil registration, document attestation and legalization, and emergency consular assistance for Congolese nationals in Italy.

The embassy's economic section supports bilateral trade promotion and business matchmaking between Congolese and Italian companies.
