Through its Geneva delegation, Dominica engages with international economic institutions that shape global trade rules and development cooperation. The mission participates in World Trade Organization (WTO) negotiations affecting Caribbean exports, including preferential trade arrangements, rules of origin, and market access for agricultural products and services. Staff monitor and contribute to discussions at UNCTAD on issues such as sustainable tourism, blue economy development, and trade facilitation for small island economies. The delegation advocates for international support for climate-resilient infrastructure and renewable energy transitions, engaging with development finance institutions and climate funds based in Geneva. The mission works to ensure that international economic policies account for the structural vulnerabilities of small island developing states, including limited economies of scale, dependence on imports, and exposure to external economic shocks. Geneva-based international labor standards discussions through the ILO are monitored for impacts on Caribbean labor markets and migration patterns. Key areas of engagement include human rights (UN Human Rights Council), trade and development (UNCTAD, WTO), health (WHO), labor standards (ILO), and international humanitarian law (ICRC).
