The Embassy of Greece in Rome is Greece's diplomatic mission to Italy, processing visa applications for Italian residents and providing consular services to Greek nationals in Italy.
Visa Services
As a Schengen member, Greece follows standard Schengen rules. EU/EEA/Swiss citizens enter freely with an ID card or passport — unlimited stay and the right to work. Italian citizens can enter with just an ID card. Citizens of the US, UK, Canada, Australia, Japan, and many others can enter visa-free for up to 90 days within a 180-day period across the whole Schengen area. The announced ETIAS system — a simple online registration before departure for visa-exempt travellers — has been postponed multiple times and is not yet in force; check current status before travelling. Citizens of visa-required countries must apply for a Schengen visa at a Greek consulate. Processing time: around 15 days. Travel insurance with minimum €30,000 coverage is mandatory.
Consular Services
The embassy provides passport and travel document services, civil registration, document attestation and legalization, and emergency consular assistance for Greek nationals in Italy.

The embassy's economic section supports bilateral trade promotion and business matchmaking between Greek and Italian companies, alongside strong reciprocal Mediterranean tourism flows.
