High Commission of India in Wellington

Overview

The High Commission of India in Wellington is the single Indian mission for New Zealand, on Pipitea Street in Thorndon near Parliament. For New Zealand residents it is the route for Indian visas that fall outside the e-Visa scheme, OCI (Overseas Citizen of India) cards, passport and document services, and consular assistance. New Zealand's Indian-origin community is one of its fastest-growing, and the High Commission carries the OCI and passport casework that comes with it. Most Kiwi tourists travel to India on the online e-Visa and never need to visit in person.

Visa Services

New Zealand passport holders apply online for the e-Visa for most short visits to India. The High Commission processes the consular and sticker-visa categories outside the e-Visa scheme — including off-list passports and certain long-stay and employment routes — along with OCI cards, passport services and document attestation for Indian nationals and persons of Indian origin resident in New Zealand.

Service Area

All of New Zealand, run from the capital. There is no separate Indian consulate elsewhere in the country; routine tourist e-Visas need no visit, and cases that require an in-person presence are handled in Wellington.
