Overview
The Honorary Consulate General of Italy in Reykjavik provides local consular assistance for Italian citizens in Iceland. The Honorary Consul General is Ms. Rósa Björg Jónsdóttir, in post since 2020. Italy does not maintain a resident embassy in Iceland — the Italian Embassy in Oslo (Norway) is accredited to Iceland and handles full diplomatic and consular matters. Italy and Iceland share volcanic geology (Etna and Stromboli vs Eyjafjallajökull and Hekla) and growing tourism ties, with Italian visitors increasingly drawn to Iceland's landscapes and Northern Lights.
