The Embassy of Libya in Rome is Libya's diplomatic mission to Italy, processing visa applications for Italian residents and providing consular services to Libyan nationals in Italy.
Visa Services
Libya requires a visa for citizens of nearly every country, applied for in advance at a Libyan embassy or consulate and almost always requiring sponsorship from a Libyan host — usually a tour operator, a Libyan company, or a government body. Standard documents include a passport valid at least 6 months beyond entry with at least 2 blank pages, a passport photo, an application form, a mandatory sponsor invitation letter, a WHO yellow fever certificate if arriving from an endemic country, and proof of financial means. Fees vary by nationality and processing currently takes several weeks. Visa on arrival is not a standard option. Travellers with any evidence of travel to Israel are refused entry.
Consular Services
The embassy provides passport and travel document services, civil registration, document attestation and legalization, and emergency consular assistance for Libyan nationals in Italy.
