Overview
The Embassy of Malaysia in Rome is Malaysia's diplomatic mission to Italy, processing visa applications for Italian residents and providing consular services to Malaysian nationals in Italy.
Visa Services
Malaysia applies one of the most liberal visa frameworks in Southeast Asia. Citizens of over 160 countries — including Italy, the rest of the EU/EEA, the UK, the US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, Singapore, and South Korea — enter visa-free for tourism and short business trips, with 90 days standard for most major passports. ASEAN citizens enter visa-free for 30 days. The Malaysia Digital Arrival Card (MDAC) is a mandatory free online declaration submitted within 3 days before arrival — it replaces the old paper landing card and applies in addition to the passport's visa rule. Travellers from visa-required countries apply online for an eVisa through the official Immigration Department channel. Standard requirements: a passport valid at least 6 months from arrival with at least 2 blank pages, a return or onward ticket, proof of accommodation, and sufficient funds.
Consular Services
The embassy provides passport and travel document services, civil registration, document attestation and legalization, and emergency consular assistance for Malaysian nationals in Italy.
Trade & Export Support
The embassy's economic section supports bilateral trade promotion and business matchmaking between Malaysian and Italian companies.
