Yes. Mexico reinstated the visa requirement for Peruvian citizens in 2024, suspending the previous Pacific Alliance visa-free arrangement. The tourist visa covers tourism, unpaid business trips and airport transit for stays under 180 days, and must be obtained before travel from the embassy in Lima.
Book a free appointment through Mexico's MI CONSULADO portal, then appear at the embassy on Jorge Basadre 710 with the completed application form, your passport, a colour photo and proof of economic solvency — recent bank statements, employment certificates with pay records, or property ownership. Approved visas are collected on working days between 15:00 and 16:00.
Mexico's general entry rules exempt travellers holding valid visas or permanent residence of certain third countries, and reduced documentation applies to minors whose parent holds a Mexican visa and to close relatives of Mexican citizens. The exemption list changes, so confirm your specific case with the embassy before booking flights.
