Overview
The Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Vienna is Poland's diplomatic mission in Austria. Because both countries are EU and Schengen members, Austrian citizens travel to Poland visa-free, so the embassy's main workload is consular support for the substantial Polish community in Austria and bilateral relations across trade, culture and EU affairs.
Visa Services
Austrian nationals do not need a visa to visit Poland, as both countries are Schengen members with full freedom of movement. Third-country nationals legally resident in Austria who need a Schengen visa specifically for Poland — for business, family visits or study — apply through the embassy, which decides on cases within its consular district using the standard Schengen documentation: valid passport, application form, recent photograph, travel medical insurance covering at least EUR 30,000 across the Schengen Area, and proof of sufficient funds.
Consular Services
The embassy provides passport applications and renewals, civil-registration services (births, marriages, deaths), notarial services, PESEL and voter registration support, and emergency assistance for Polish nationals resident in or travelling through Austria — one of the larger Polish communities in Western Europe, built up through decades of labour migration.
Trade & Export Support
Poland and Austria are both EU members with deep trade integration under the single market. Austrian companies maintain a significant presence in Poland across banking, retail and manufacturing, while Polish exports to Austria include machinery, furniture and food products. The embassy supports bilateral trade missions and business introductions between the two economies.
