Overview
The Royal Embassy of Saudi Arabia in Ankara is the Kingdom's diplomatic mission to Turkey, coordinating with a Consulate General in Istanbul for consular services in the country's largest city. The embassy processes visa applications for Turkish residents, provides consular support to Saudi nationals, and represents Saudi interests across the bilateral relationship.
Visa Services
Turkish residents applying to visit Saudi Arabia for tourism, business, family visits, or Hajj/Umrah should note that most eligible nationalities can now obtain an eVisa online rather than applying in person at the embassy — the e-visa is also open to holders of a valid Schengen, UK or US visa and to permanent residents of the US, EU or UK, with a visa on arrival available to the same travellers. Umrah can be performed year-round on the tourism e-visa, with the Umrah permit applied for online; Hajj needs a separate permit and only takes place in the Hajj season. Applications requiring embassy processing (certain long-term or purpose-specific visas) are handled through the embassy's consular section; requirements typically include a valid passport, passport photo, and supporting documents depending on visa purpose.
Consular Services
The embassy provides passport and travel document services, civil registration, document attestation and legalization, and emergency consular assistance for Saudi nationals in Turkey. Saudi citizens in and around Istanbul are also served by the Consulate General there.
Trade & Export Support
Turkey and Saudi Arabia maintain substantial trade and investment ties — Turkish contractors are among the most active foreign firms in Gulf infrastructure and giga-project construction, including Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030 developments, while Turkish Airlines' extensive route network underpins the significant reciprocal tourism flow between the two countries. The embassy's economic section supports bilateral trade promotion and business matchmaking.
Service Area
Turkey, with the Istanbul area also served by the Consulate General.
Appointment Information
Consular appointments are booked through the embassy's official channels; visa applications for most nationalities are handled via the Saudi eVisa portal rather than in-person embassy visits.
Special Notes
The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's National Day is September 23.
