Slovenian Embassy in Vienna

Overview

The Embassy of the Republic of Slovenia in Vienna is Slovenia's diplomatic mission in Austria. Because both countries are EU and Schengen members, Austrian citizens travel to Slovenia visa-free, so the embassy's main workload is consular support for the Slovenian community resident in Austria — including the historic Carinthian Slovene minority — and bilateral relations across trade, culture and EU affairs. Slovenia also maintains a Consulate-General in Klagenfurt.

Visa Services

Austrian nationals do not need a visa to visit Slovenia, as both countries are Schengen members with full freedom of movement. Third-country nationals legally resident in Austria who need a Schengen visa specifically for Slovenia — for business, family visits or study — apply through the embassy or the Klagenfurt consulate using the standard Schengen documentation: valid passport, application form, recent photograph, travel medical insurance covering at least EUR 30,000 across the Schengen Area, and proof of sufficient funds.

Consular Services

The embassy provides passport applications and renewals, civil-registration services, notarial services and emergency assistance for Slovenian nationals resident in or travelling through Austria. Southern Austria, including Carinthia, is also served by the Consulate-General in Klagenfurt.

Trade & Export Support

Slovenia and Austria maintain a close trade relationship as neighbouring EU members, with extensive cross-border commerce in manufacturing, logistics and tourism. The embassy supports bilateral trade missions and business introductions between the two economies.
