Overview
The Embassy of Somalia in Rome is Somalia's diplomatic mission to Italy — a historically significant post given Italy's colonial-era ties to Somalia — processing visa applications for Italian residents and providing consular services to Somali nationals in Italy.
Visa Services
Somalia offers a visa on arrival at Mogadishu Airport or an e-visa through www.evisa.gov.so (single-entry visa 60 USD, 30-90 days). Somaliland operates a separate visa system (visa on arrival at Hargeisa Egal Airport or e-visa, 60-80 USD, 30 days) — a Somalia visa is not valid for Somaliland and vice versa. Independent tourism in Mogadishu and the federally administered south is very limited; most travel is professional, humanitarian, journalistic, or diaspora visits, organised with specialised security arrangements.
Consular Services
The embassy provides passport and travel document services, civil registration, document attestation and legalization, and emergency consular assistance for Somali nationals in Italy.
Trade & Export Support
The embassy's economic section supports bilateral trade promotion and business matchmaking between Somali and Italian companies.
Service Area
Italy.
Appointment Information
Consular appointments are booked through the embassy's official channels.
Special Notes
Somalia's Independence Day is July 1.
