The Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Rome is South Korea's diplomatic mission to Italy, processing visa applications for Italian residents and providing consular services to South Korean nationals in Italy.
Visa Services
South Korea operates an efficient immigration system that balances tourist and business accessibility with work-authorisation control. Italian and EU citizens, along with citizens of the US, UK, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, and over 60 other countries, can enter visa-free for tourist or business stays of up to 90 days — a passport valid at the time of entry is sufficient, with no minimum remaining-validity requirement for short stays. A key change: the K-ETA (Korean Electronic Travel Authorization) is suspended until December 31, 2025 — from January 1, 2026, it becomes mandatory for all visa-exempt travellers; when reinstated, it should only be requested through the official Korean government portal, as other sites are generally scams. Since February 2025, the electronic arrival card (e-Arrival) is mandatory, completed online within 3 calendar days before travel (or on paper at the airport until end of 2025). Working during visa-free stays is prohibited regardless of nationality. Anyone wishing to work, teach, or stay beyond 90 days must apply for a visa in advance at this embassy — immigration status cannot be changed locally; travellers must leave the country and apply from abroad.

The embassy provides passport and travel document services, civil registration, document attestation and legalization, and emergency consular assistance for South Korean nationals in Italy.
