Overview
The Embassy of Spain in Vienna is Spain's diplomatic mission in Austria. Because both countries are EU and Schengen members, Austrian citizens travel to Spain visa-free, so the embassy's main workload is consular support for the Spanish community in Austria and bilateral relations across trade, culture and EU affairs.
Visa Services
Austrian nationals do not need a visa to visit Spain, as both countries are Schengen members with full freedom of movement. Third-country nationals legally resident in Austria who need a Schengen visa specifically for Spain — for business, family visits or study — apply through the embassy using the standard Schengen documentation: valid passport, application form, recent photograph, travel medical insurance covering at least EUR 30,000 across the Schengen Area, and proof of sufficient funds.
Consular Services
The embassy provides passport applications and renewals, civil-registration services (births, marriages, deaths), notarial services and emergency assistance for Spanish nationals resident in or travelling through Austria.
Trade & Export Support
Spain and Austria are both EU members with active trade in tourism, engineering and manufactured goods. Spanish companies maintain a presence in Austria's renewable-energy and infrastructure sectors, while Austrian firms are active in the Spanish market across machinery and technology. The embassy supports bilateral trade missions and business introductions between the two economies.
