Visa Services
Sri Lanka uses an Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) system for short-stay visitors. The tourist ETA is free, applied for online at eta.gov.lk, and processed within a few days. It grants 30 days with two entries or 180 days with one entry. Visa on arrival has been suspended — all visitors must obtain the ETA online before travelling. Only the official site should be used, to avoid third-party fees. Travellers should double-check all details, including passport numbers, as errors require a fresh application. Extensions are available online but take time. Business visas must be obtained at an embassy before arrival. A passport valid for 6 months with one blank page, a return ticket, and proof of funds are required. A yellow fever certificate is mandatory when arriving from an endemic country.

The embassy provides passport and travel document services, civil registration, document attestation and legalization, and emergency consular assistance for Sri Lankan nationals in Italy.
