The Embassy of Uruguay in Rome is Uruguay's diplomatic mission to Italy, processing visa applications for Italian residents and providing consular services to Uruguayan nationals in Italy.
Visa Services
Uruguay is among the easiest South American countries to reach. Italian, San Marino, Vatican, EU, UK, Swiss, Norwegian, Icelandic, Liechtenstein, US, Canadian, Australian, New Zealand, Japanese, South Korean, Singaporean, Israeli, and around 80 other nationalities enter visa-free for stays of up to 90 days for tourism, family visits, or short business meetings. Mercosur and Andean Community citizens enter with a national ID card under the regional free-movement protocol. The passport must be valid on entry (Uruguay itself does not require 6 months' residual validity, though airlines often ask for it) with at least one blank page for the entry stamp. The 90-day visa-free stay can be extended for a further 90 days at the Dirección Nacional de Migración (DNM) in Montevideo.
Consular Services
The embassy provides passport and travel document services, civil registration, document attestation and legalization, and emergency consular assistance for Uruguayan nationals in Italy.
