Overview
The Embassy of Vietnam in Rome is Vietnam's diplomatic mission to Italy, processing visa applications for Italian residents and providing consular services to Vietnamese nationals in Italy.
Visa Services
Vietnam offers several visa routes. Since 2023, Italian citizens and citizens of many other countries (the EU, the UK, Japan, South Korea, and others) can enter visa-free for up to 45 days — a significant extension from the previous 15 days, part of the government's campaign to revive post-COVID tourism. For longer stays, the e-visa is applied for online at evisa.gov.vn — 90 days, single or multiple entry, processed in 3-5 working days, around 25 USD. Alternatively, a Visa on Arrival (VOA) is available with a pre-approval letter issued by an authorised Vietnamese travel agency. Passport requirements: at least 6 months' validity beyond the planned stay and at least 2 blank pages. IMPORTANT: Vietnam imposes strict penalties for overstaying — fines, deportation, and possible future entry bans.
Consular Services
The embassy provides passport and travel document services, civil registration, document attestation and legalization, and emergency consular assistance for Vietnamese nationals in Italy.
Trade & Export Support
The embassy's economic section supports bilateral trade promotion and business matchmaking between Vietnamese and Italian companies.
