Frequently asked questions
Do Peruvians need a visa to visit France?
Not for short stays. Peruvian passport holders enter France and the whole Schengen area visa-free for up to 90 days in any 180-day period, an exemption in force since 2016. Study, work and long-stay moves require a national visa processed through the official France-Visas channel.
How do I contact the French Embassy in Lima — there is no email?
By design: consular contact runs through the France Consulaire service — phone +51 1 701 6909 at local rates (or +33 5 24 09 23 98), weekdays from 14:00 to 20:00 Paris time — and through the contact form on the embassy's website. The phone service does not answer visa questions; those belong to France-Visas.
Can I walk into the consular section without an appointment?
Only for two things: collecting a ready passport or identity card, and life certificates — Tuesdays and Thursdays, 08:45-09:45. Everything else at the consular section inside the embassy runs strictly by appointment.
Is there French consular presence outside Lima?
Yes — honorary consular agencies in Arequipa, Iquitos and Cusco act as local relays for French citizens in the regions, with files decided by the consular section in Lima.
