Overview
The Royal Embassy of Saudi Arabia in Vienna is the Kingdom's diplomatic mission to Austria, with the ambassador also serving as non-resident envoy to Slovakia and Slovenia — both handled from this office rather than a separate resident post. The embassy processes visa applications for Austrian residents, provides consular services to Saudi nationals, and represents Saudi interests to the international organizations headquartered in Vienna.
Visa Services
Austrian nationals are among the eligible nationalities for the Saudi tourism e-visa, which is obtained online — issued within minutes to hours and valid one year for multiple entries, up to 90 days per stay — with no need to visit the embassy in Vienna in person. The same e-visa, and visa on arrival at major Saudi airports, is equally open to holders of a valid Schengen, UK or US visa and to permanent residents of the US, EU or UK. It covers tourism, business, family visits and Umrah, performed year-round on an Umrah permit applied for online; Hajj falls outside it and requires a separate Hajj visa granted only for the Hajj season. Work and other long-term categories the e-visa does not cover are handled by the consular section, which asks for a passport valid at least six months and purpose-specific documents.
Consular Services
The embassy provides passport and travel document services, civil registration, document attestation and legalization, and emergency consular assistance for Saudi nationals in Austria, Slovakia, and Slovenia.
Service Area
Austria (resident), plus non-resident accreditation to Slovakia and Slovenia.
Appointment Information
Consular appointments are booked through the embassy's official channels; visa applications for most nationalities are processed via the Saudi eVisa portal rather than in-person embassy visits.
Special Notes
The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's National Day is September 23. Vienna also hosts Saudi Arabia's permanent mission to the UN and other international organizations, a separate diplomatic function from the bilateral embassy.
