Serbia runs one of Europe's most liberal visa frameworks. Citizens of over 90 countries — all EU/EEA states, the UK, the US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Switzerland, Japan, South Korea, Singapore, and most of Latin America and the Gulf — enter visa-free for tourism and short business trips of up to 90 days within any 180-day period, with no advance application. The passport must be valid for at least 90 days beyond the planned stay. A particularly useful Serbian provision: holders of a valid Schengen visa, a US visa, a UK visa, or a Schengen-country residence permit can enter Serbia visa-free for up to 90 days even if their nationality would normally require a Serbian visa — a valuable shortcut for adding Serbia to a European itinerary. Serbia is not part of the Schengen area, and its own 90/180 clock runs independently of the Schengen one. Visa-required travellers apply at the Serbian embassy or consulate for their place of residence — Rome for Italy and San Marino, Bern for Switzerland, Vienna for Austria.
